Systematic examination for drivers is a medical examination conducted to verify the physical and mental ability of a person to operate a motor vehicle. It is part of the process of obtaining or renewing a driver's license to ensure road safety and prevent potential risks to the driver and other road users.
FOR WHICH DRIVER CATEGORIES DOES SYSTEMATIC EXAMINATION EXIST?
Systematic examination is mandatory for all driver's license categories, except for AM category (moped operation). For different driver's license categories, there are different scopes and content of examination. For example, examination for category B (passenger vehicles) is more extensive than examination for category C (trucks).
SYSTEMATIC EXAMINATION FOR DRIVERS INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING ELEMENTS:
- Laboratory tests – glycemia
- ECG, blood pressure measurement, height, weight, body mass index
- Audiometry
- Specialist ophthalmologist examination
- Specialist neuropsychiatrist examination
- Psychologist examination
- Occupational medicine specialist examination
For drivers over 65 years old, additional examinations are usually required.
FOR PROFESSIONAL DRIVERS, SUPPLEMENTARY EXAMINATION IS MANDATORY:
Laboratory: CBC, Se, glycemia, urine.
After the completed examination, the doctor will issue a certificate of physical and mental ability to operate a motor vehicle. If health problems are identified that could affect safe vehicle operation, the doctor may approve a driver's license with certain conditions or deny it.
If a physical person is assessed as medically unfit, the Ministry of Internal Affairs is notified within 8 days.
