Examination Details
Medical examination for boat operation is a special examination conducted to determine the medical fitness of a person for operating motor boats and other watercraft. This examination is prescribed by the Law on Water Safety of the Republic of Serbia and is mandatory for all persons who want to obtain a boat operation license.
THE EXAMINATION CONSISTS OF THE FOLLOWING SEGMENTS:
- Laboratory tests – CBC, Se, glycemia, urine
- ECG, blood pressure measurement, height, weight, body mass index
- Audiometry
- Specialist ophthalmologist examination
- Specialist neuropsychiatrist examination
- Psychologist examination
- Occupational medicine specialist examination
WHY IS MEDICAL EXAMINATION FOR BOAT OPERATION NEEDED?
Medical examination is necessary to determine whether a person who wants to operate a boat has appropriate health condition for this. Some conditions, such as cardiovascular diseases, vision disorders, epilepsy or other diseases, may pose a risk to boat operation safety.
WHO IS THE EXAMINATION INTENDED FOR?
This examination is intended for all persons who want to obtain a boat operation license. This includes persons who already had a license but lost it for any reason.
HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE EXAMINATION?
The examination does not require special preparation. However, before the examination, it is advisable to rest and refrain from consuming alcoholic beverages and medications that may affect the examination results.
EXAMINATION RESULTS?
Examination results are issued in the form of a medical certificate that is valid for 5 years. If the doctor determines that a person does not meet the medical requirements for boat operation, he will issue an opinion on whether it is possible for the person to obtain a boat operation license under certain conditions.
